Regular exchange of border-specific information
The OSCE maintains the Border Security and Management National Focal Point Network, an initiative that allows a regular exchange of border-specific information. Aside from enabling this regular information exchange, the Organization also provides opportunities to participating States and experts to share practices, information and ideas during an annual meeting, multimedia conferences and various working group activities.

Agencies, international organizations and security partnerships
Border management and security are an important element of the Organization’s work in the area of tackling transnational threats. From 1999 to 2004, the OSCE was involved in border operations in Georgia. Between 2003 and 2007, it established the Ohrid Border Process, a framework for participating States to develop a coherent and concerted border security and management approach in South-Eastern Europe. The Organization also provided assessments and advice on strategic planning in South-Eastern Europe, South Caucasus and Central Asia, including with the border situation with Afghanistan.
