
Transnational Threats Department
The Transnational Threats Department is the focal point for all OSCE activities to address transnational threats, while respecting the mandates of each OSCE executive structure. It is led by a Co-ordinator and is organized into four portfolios: Action against Terrorism, Border Security and Management, Strategic Police Matters and Cyber/ICT Security.

Artificial intelligence and digital technologies in combating drug trafficking and organized crime focus of CARICC and OSCE side event at 35th Session of UN Crime Commission
On 2 June 2026, on the margins of the 35th Session of the United Nations Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice in Vienna, Austria, the Central Asian Regional Information and Coordination Centre (CARICC) and the OSCE Transnational Threats Department (OSCE/TNTD) co-organized a side event titled “Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technologies in Combating Drug Trafficking and Organized Crime”.

This paper is a summary of the third in a series of roundtable discussions that aim to identify opportunities for law enforcement to harness new technologies to support its work, help formulate policy recommendations and explore potential OSCE capacity-building support in this area.
