Leveraging new technologies to engage with communities
This paper is a summary of the third in a series of roundtable discussions that aim to identify opportunities for law enforcement to harness new technologies to support its work, help formulate policy recommendations and explore potential OSCE capacity-building support in this area. The third event in this series was dedicated to the use of new technologies to engage with communities. It explored how digital technologies are transforming communication and engagement between law enforcement and the public, and how they can enhance outreach to remote communities, youth crime prevention and police operations. The paper also highlights challenges that police face when using digital technologies for engagement with communities and provides a set of practical policy recommendations for law enforcement authorities across the OSCE area.
